2020 COMMON AREA METRO GROSS MARKET

As part of Metro Türkiye’s “Geographically Indicated Products” project—launched to preserve the country’s local culinary heritage—we designed artistic backdrops for the five symbolic sculptures on display, each of which deepens the story behind the artwork and visually highlights it. This exhibition served as a powerful demonstration of how visual merchandising can be more than just a commercial display—it can also be seamlessly integrated with cultural storytelling and the discipline of art engineering.

In our design concept, we used paper and cardboard as artistic narrative tools to reflect Metro’s vision of sustainability through the authenticity of the materials. For each sculpture, we created a product-specific conceptual world:

The Sharpness of the Knife and Origami: Behind the chef’s knife sculpture, we used a monochromatic paper installation with sharp surfaces, folded using origami techniques. The paper’s rigid, geometric forms emphasized the knife’s sharpness while adding a modern and futuristic depth to the composition.

Products with Geographical Indications and 3D Flora: For the sculptures of the Finike orange, the Bursa black fig, and the Gemlik olive, we recreated each product’s natural habitat in 3D on the wall. The orange blossoms, leaves, fig branches, and olives we sculpted from paper created a fairy-tale-like, living backdrop that emphasized the organic origins of the sculptures.

Fish Skeleton and Layered Volume: Behind the fish sculpture, we combined paper forms in various shades of blue and turquoise into a layered, three-dimensional installation. This composition symbolizes the depth and movement of the sea while creating a perfect balance with the sculpture’s vertical structure.

Natural Life Cycle and Pastoral Backdrop: Behind the egg sculpture, we placed a layered pastoral backdrop that highlights the natural life cycle. The lush green hills and vegetation, crafted from paper, created a warm and heartfelt atmosphere that reinforced the sculpture’s message of “naturalness.”

At A! Ne Hoş Design, the boutique designs we offer for retail spaces, exhibitions, and corporate installations (event design) demonstrate our ability to create unique, sustainable, and aesthetically sophisticated visual narratives by blending brand vision with craftsmanship and design engineering. Our goal is to blend the corporate identities of our business partners in the food, holding, and service sectors with art, designing not just display spaces, but vibrant living spaces that energize.
