2022 DESIGN WEEK ISTANBUL / ADVANCED RECYCLING PROJECT TOMTOM DESIGNHOOD
These free-form works, created at the iconic Red Building within Tomtom Designhood, represent a professional experience in craftsmanship and design engineering that explores the design potential of paper and cardboard through the material’s inherent integrity. Conceived to create an artistic contrast to the industrial coldness of the historical fabric, these installations go beyond being static decorative objects to present living graphic forms that touch the spirit of the space.
Throughout our design process, we explored various forms and textures that push the physical limits of the material. The layered, geometric, and color-blocked vertical forms—which are integral to the composition—were designed as symbolic structures that reflect the flexibility and graphic power of the industrial material. The delicate curves of the paper sheets and organic lines integrated with folded geometric structures brought together nature’s organic irregularity with the precise discipline of paper engineering. Rising from the rough surfaces of the historic building, these installations add both depth and a philosophical dimension to the space by engaging with the material’s texture. These free-form works reflect our design identity and expertise in creating site-specific solutions for our partners in sectors with high aesthetic sensitivity, such as retail (visual merchandising), cosmetics, home textiles, and fashion. Our goal is to use paper and cardboard with artistic ingenuity to construct unforgettable, sustainable, prestigious, and discovery-filled visual worlds within the urban fabric.
